The National MACRA MIPS/APM Summit will be held November 30, 2016 through December 2, 2016, at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.
The summit boasts a lengthy list of keynote speakers, including: Michael Leavitt, Founder and Chairman of Leavitt Partners; Robert J. Margolis, MD, the Founder of the Robert and Lisa Margolis Family Foundation, Duke-Robert J. Margolis, MD, Center for Health Policy; Richard N. Merkin, MD, the Founder, President, and CEO of Heritage Medical Systems; Farzad Mostashari, MPH, MD, Co-Founder and CEO of Aledade; Samuel R. Nussbaum, Chair of the Alternative Payment Model Framework and Progress Tracking Work Group, Health Care Payment Learning & Action Network, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services; Peggy O’Kane, President of the National Committee for Quality Assurance; and Andy Slavitt, MBA, Acting Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Wednesday, November 30
The summit kicks off with an afternoon of preconference symposia. Attendees will have the option to register for this afternoon and select one of two tracks: “MACRA/MIPS/APM Basics: An Introductory Course to the Basics and Beyond of MACRA and its Disruptive Impact on the Industry” or “Advanced Strategies in APM Qualification, Development and Operations.”
Thursday, December 1
The first official day of the Summit starts out with an overview of MACRA MIPS/APM challenges and opportunities, followed by discussions centered around how to design and implement physician-focused payment models; and how physician organizations can respond to MACRA/MIPS and APMs.
Throughout the afternoon, attendees will have the option to attend several mini-summits with topics ranging from: Succeeding in MIPS; Case Studies in APM Cardiology Payment Innovation; Risk Adjustment and Actuarial Issues; The Role of Qualified Clinical Data Registries; and Key MACRA Issues: Implementing a Successful MACRA Plan.
The evening concludes with a special evening dinner program (separate registration is required), where attendees will hear from a panel discussion, “Innovation and Disruption: Path to Transformational Change.”
Friday, December 2
Day Two kicks off with more mini summits, topics including: Case Studies in APM Payment Innovation: Procedural Episodes; Advanced Primary Care Payment Models; Case Studies in APM Oncology Payment Innovation; APM Value Proposition of Medication Management Services; and MACRA and ACOs, and How Bundled Payments Do and Don’t Work.
The morning rounds out with discussions on essential competencies that providers need to succeed under APMs: lessons from the Accountable Care Learning Collaborative (ACLC); and how to prepare for a successful future in a value-based world.
