Pharmascolds an Official Term

Pharmascolds has been added to the American vocabulary this week according to Schott’s Vocabulary column in the New York Times.

Definition:  Those critical of the relationship between (the pharmaceutical) industry and academic medical research. (Pharmaceutical + scolds).

So from now on, critics of industry, the Angell-Relman’s, DeAngelis, the Prescription Project, the Institute of Medicine – as a Profession, the Macy Foundation, and the small group of academics they influence, now can all be defined as Pharmascolds.
