Don’t Get Burned by Sunshine
The first year of reporting obligations for the Physician Payments Sunshine Act is coming to a close on June 30, 2014, when companies must submit detailed 2013 data regarding their interactions with healthcare providers to CMS. However, the rigors of the Sunshine Act do not end there. Pharmaceutical and device manufacturers are required to track their spend data year round. Furthermore, starting in July of this year, companies will be responsible for handling disputes with healthcare professionals. In September, these reports will be published on a searchable public website.
