Fourteenth Annual Independent Medical Education and Grants Breakthrough Summit

This year, the annual Independent Medical Education and Grants Breakthrough Summit will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the DoubleTree by Hilton September 13, 2016 – September 14, 2016.

This year, the annual summit returns to discuss the challenges of designing and delivering education that remains congruent with the evolving value-based healthcare landscape. This year’s program will focus on the practical and hard-hitting steps needed to transform education into the highest quality healthcare.

Attendees will benefit from hearing expert insights on

  • Value-based payment goals, addressed through educational initiatives;
  • Generational differences in healthcare and how to meet the learning preferences of a broad physician community;
  • How to translate EMR data into succinct outcomes reports to drive educational design; and
  • Pearls of wisdom on advancements in collaboration between supporters and providers.

Day One

September 13, 2016, starts out with an address by Nancy Lutz-Paynter of Genentech about “The Influence of a Value-Based Healthcare System on Medical Education,” followed by a presentation by Andrew Rosenberg of Thorn Run Partners on updates to CME-related payment and data reporting with respect to Sunshine Act requirements. The morning ends with a panel on how to explore creative education delivery systems to improve learning outcomes.

The afternoon of Day One starts with a discussion on how to bridge generational differences in education programs, followed by a panel discussion on understanding the role of quality improvement in medical education and patient outcomes. Day One ends with several workshops, including topics such as: Connect and Align Domestic and Global Medical Education Strategies and Evaluate Metrics to Establish Accurate and Reportable Outcomes Data.

Day Two

September 14, 2016, begins with an educational and informational discussion on Establishing Partnerships with Government Agencies, Patient Advocacy Groups, Associations and Technology Partners to Increase Funding for Educational Initiatives. Mid-morning, there is a provider panel on Provider Perspectives on Education Strategies to Engage Specific Audiences and Address Their Needs. The afternoon rounds out with several other panels, including topics such as Promoting Physician Engagement and Adherence to Medical Education Objectives and how to Expand and Incorporate QI Initiatives into ACO Practices to Improve Quality of Care.
