{"id":94,"date":"2018-02-21T05:23:00","date_gmt":"2018-02-21T00:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.policymed.com\/accme-releases-report-highlighting-2017-successes\/"},"modified":"2018-05-04T00:31:21","modified_gmt":"2018-05-03T19:31:21","slug":"accme-releases-report-highlighting-2017-successes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.policymed.com\/2018\/02\/accme-releases-report-highlighting-2017-successes.html","title":{"rendered":"ACCME Releases Report Highlighting 2017 Successes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) recently released a new report,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.accme.org\/sites\/default\/files\/ACCME_2017_Highlights_Report.pdf\">Transforming Continuing Medical Education Together:\u00a02017 Highlights from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education<\/a><strong>.<\/strong>\u00a0The\u00a0inaugural\u00a0year-in-review report showcases the\u00a0efforts\u00a0of the ACCME and the\u00a0continuing medical education (CME) community to leverage the power of education to respond to the changing healthcare environment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><em>The report aims to celebrate <\/em>the CME community\u2019s initiatives to drive meaningful change for educators, clinicians, and ultimately patients, including:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The\u00a0Menu of Criteria for Accreditation with Commendation which represents\u00a0the CME\u00a0community\u2019s vision of the future of\u00a0education. From engaging with students, patients, and teams to tackling population and public health issues, CME providers that meet these criteria\u00a0demonstrate\u00a0the\u00a0capacity\u00a0of education to\u00a0address healthcare challenges.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Expanded opportunities for physicians to participate in education that counts for multiple requirements, thus reducing burdens and allowing clinicians more flexibility in choosing education that meets their needs, as a result of collaborations between accreditors, certifying boards, and educators.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Freedom and flexibility in employing blended, new, and innovative approaches to education through the alignment of ACCME\/American Medical Association requirements.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Collaborations with other organizations, including the nursing and pharmacy accreditor colleagues to initiate\u00a0a\u00a0new\u00a0IPCE\u00a0credit mark that identifies education designed to improve team collaboration and patient care, helping to increase recognition for\u00a0interprofessional\u00a0continuing education (IPCE).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Increased engagement with healthcare leaders to promote the value of CME as a strategy to fulfil institutional and health system priorities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Becoming a model of accreditation standards for other CME systems and providers around the world.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The report also describes the ACCME\u2019s\u00a0commitment to supporting the CME community.
