Each year Harvard holds an Ackerman Symposium, to discuss the social issues in medicine, the topics in past years have ranged from: Self & Non-Self: A Transplant Surgeon and the Medical Humanities to Beating it into them? Beating it out of them? Moral Values in Medical Education Today.

This year on April 30th, the topic is Medical Industry, Medical Education.  Speakers include Murray Kopelow, Mike Saxton, Ron Cerveo, and Don Phillps to Jerry Avorn, and Jeremy Green.

The 2009 Ackerman Symposium on Medicine & Culture gathers together national leaders from academic medicine, industry, CME programs, and professional organizations to investigate the historical roots and current structure of industrial support of continuing medical education.
