Senator Grassley Juggling to Stay at Finance Committee

According to the Hill Newspaper, the party switch this week of Senator Arlen Specter, R-PA, from the Republican Party to the Democratic Party has opened up the top slot at the Senate Judiciary Committee.  Senator Grassley, who is a long time member of the Judiciary Committee since 1981, is next in line to become the ranking minority member of that Committee.  Senator Grassley stated to reporters that his first choice is to become the ranking minority member on the Judiciary committee but he would like to wait until 2011, to make the switch.

Senator Grassley is also ranking member of the Senate Finance Committee, is juggling with Senator Jeff Sessions R-AL to allow him to become ranking minority member in 2011.  But if Sessions doesn’t accept the deal Grassley may be forced to take the job at Judiciary if he really wants it.
