The Thirteenth Annual Forum on Transparency and Aggregate Spend will take place August 12th through 14th, 2019, at the Ritz Carlton in Washington, DC. As always, the conference has an impressive lineup of panels, discussions, and breakout sessions. CBI is generously giving Policy & Medicine readers a discount on registration, more details below.
Day One – August 12, 2019
On the first day, the afternoon kicks off with a choice of attending one of two pre-conference workshops as well as a closed-door Open Payments Summit. The pre-conference workshops are focused on industry standards for transparency reporting for medical device, dental manufacturers and distributors; and on a “beginner’s guide” to Open Payments reporting.
Day Two – August 13, 2019
The first entire day of the conference kicks off with a CMS keynote address presented by Robin Usi, the Director of the Division of Data & Informatics, Center for Program Integrity, Data Sharing & Partnership Group at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Following that keynote are several panel discussions, including one of recent trends in state-by-state and city-by-city reporting and how to keep up with the changes.
In the afternoon, there are several presentations, on topics such as: develop and manage a scalable global transparency program; how to apply A.I. and enhance tracking of HCP spend; and how to deploy key risk indicators (KRIs) in compliance monitoring.
That evening, there are four concurrent working groups attendees can choose to participate in: a deep dive into compliance risk measures of speaker programs/nurse educator programs; a discussion of recent trends in reporting for clinical research; a review of updates on the pharmaceutical global transparency reporting landscape; and a discussion of updates on the medical device global transparency reporting landscape. Notably, our editor Tom Sullivan will be the moderator on the panel discussion of recent trends in reporting for clinical research.
Day Three – August 14, 2019
On the final day of the conference, the morning has several concurrent sessions attendees can attend on a variety of topics. Some topics covered include: a deep dive into the intricacies of state-by-state reporting and data privacy requirements; a review of data collection processes and implementing key metrics to ensure compliance; a discussion on how to develop a dedicated, internal task group to improve cross-functional collaboration and improve business efficiencies; and an overview of helpful tips for reporting and preparing for a potential CMS audit.
The afternoon of August 14th closes out with two conference-wide panel discussions and presentations, including discussions on best practices to streamline dispute management.
