With ongoing risk of COVID-19 infection in both unvaccinated and vaccinated individuals, there is a critical need for clinicians to receive the best available information to help prevent hospitalizations and death among patients with COVID-19 at high risk of adverse outcomes, such as those with body mass index (BMI) greater than 25 or with other co-morbidities including diabetes.

As case counts in the U.S. rise again despite widespread administration of vaccines, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) to monoclonal antibody therapies that help prevent disease progression and hospitalization in individuals with COVID-19 at high risk of severe disease. As of this week, at least one major medical center is offering the treatment at patients’ homes using subcutaneous injections.

To improve clinician understanding of antibody therapies and enable identification of patients that may benefit from these treatments, Rockpointe and the Potomac Center for Medical Education along with the National Infusion Center Association, a collaboration of fifteen State Medical Societies offer an online course with support through an educational grant from Regeneron, to help clinicians navigate treatment of high-risk COVID patients.

High-Risk Patients with COVID-19: Outpatient Management to Prevent Progression is a one-hour course now available online at Rockpointe and FreeCME. The course is designed for primary care and emergency clinicians responsible for outpatient management of patients with mild-to-moderate COVID-19. The program will review current management guidelines, mechanism of action, efficacy and safety data, and patient eligibility for the monoclonal antibodies with EUA to prevent hospitalization of high-risk patients with COVID-19.    In addition, the course outlines how clinician can find infusion centers by utilizing the COVID-19 antibody infusion center locator at https://covid.infusioncenter.org/
