The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is set to upgrade the Open Payments System to version 2.0, bringing enhanced performance and user experience. The system will be unavailable starting at 9:00 PM ET on July 19, 2024, with the new version going live in August 2024 at a new URL: https://openpayments.system.cms.gov.
The new system, Open Payments System 2.0 (OPS 2.0), will include the same components, functions, and services as the original OPS system but with some enhanced features. Existing users of OPS 1.0 do not need to re-register in OPS 2.0 and will use the same username, password, and Multi-Factor Authentication preferences to loginto OPS 2.0. All existing user account data and settings will be migrated from OPS 1.0 to OPS 2.0.

Downtime Details
Starting on July 19, 2024, the system will be offline to implement these upgrades. Users will retain their current login credentials for the new system. The new system will become available on Thursday, August 1, 2024. CMS is encouraging individuals to log in soon after that date “to ensure accessibility and become familiar with the updates in advance of data submissions.” Additionally, user accounts are locked after 60 days of inactivity, but the account can be unlocked by trying to log into the system and clicking “Unlock My Account.”
